We aim to do this in a competitive, high-energy, exciting, and motivational atmosphere. Our staff is not composed of supervisors, rather professional coaches! At the same time, while increasing performance, we will significantly reduce your athletes chances of sports injury as well as teach each athlete proper nutritional fueling tactics.

Tyler Chamness, B.S., CSCS, CFNS
Tyler Chamness graduated from Nebraska Wesleyan University with his bachelor’s degree in Health and Fitness Studies and a minor in coaching. He earned his CSCS through the National Strength and Conditioning Association in March of 2018. Tyler played college football and was a defensive back at Peru State College before transferring and finishing his playing career at Nebraska Wesleyan.
Tyler did his first internship at his alma mater, Grand Island Senior High before his senior year of college under the direction of high former high school strength coach, John Swanson and football coach, Jeff Tomlin, whom he credits for his passion and desire to be a strength and conditioning coach.
“Coach Swanson and Coach Tomlin are two of the greatest men and coaches I have ever had the privilege and honor to play under and learn from as an aspiring coach. They used the weight room and football field in such strategical manners that not only did you come out of training a better athlete, but an even better person. They preach to all athletes to have a standard of excellence, whether that’s in the weight room, the classroom, the competition field, or your professional career, and by doing so, that person with a standard of excellence, pays attention to the little details, helps raise the people around them up to achieve success in the face of adversity. That is something I hope I can do, to pay it forward what they taught and gave me.”
After college, Tyler took a job at Max Muscle Metro in 2014, where he earned his certification as a Fitness and Nutrition Specialist and began specializing in creating customized nutrition plans for individual’s health and fitness goals. Tyler quickly rose to a general manager position, overseeing 3 Omaha Metro locations. In the fall of 2017 Tyler decided to pursue his passion and become a CSCS and started his internship at The Xplosive Edge. After his internship Tyler was offered to stay on staff and has been with The Xplosive Edge as a sports performance coach since January of 2018.
Justin Pastoor, M.S., CSCS, USAW
Justin Pastoor graduated from Dordt College in 2015 with his Bachelor’s degree in Health and Human Performance: Exercise Science and minors in Psychology and Biomedical Studies. While at Dordt he was a four-year thrower for the men’s track and field team while working with multiple teams as a student intern sports performance coach and a student athletic trainer. Before continuing his education, starting in the fall of 2015 he took a year off to intern with Central College in Pella, Iowa where he had the opportunity to coach full time working with nine different teams while sitting in on multiple coaching courses. During this time, he was also an assistant track and field coach working with the throwers and short sprinters for Pella Christian High School.
In the fall of 2016 Justin began his Master’s program with the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse where he spent the next year and a half taking multiple graduate level courses in anatomy, physiology, biomechanics while further developing his foundations in coaching and programming and how to apply a science and data driven approach to sports performance. While completing his studies, he had the opportunity to work closely with football, men and women’s track, and spent a semester leading and programing for the men and women’s basketball team in their late off season and preseason.
For the capstone of his program, Justin began as an intern with The Xplosive Edge in January 2018 and in May 2018 graduated with his Master’s Degree in Human Performance: Exercise and Sports Science with an emphasis in Strength and Conditioning. Following his internship, Justin was extended an offer to stay on and join The Xplosive Edge as a sports performance coach and began immediately following graduation. In October of 2018 he successfully passed all requirements from the National Strength and Conditioning Association and acquired his CSCS.
Nate Jones, B.S., CSCS
Nate graduated in 2015 from Nebraska Wesleyan University in Lincoln with a B.A. in Business Administration and a Coaching minor. Nate was a Running Back at NWU, starting several games over the course of his career. After sustaining three tough injuries in a short period of time, he then decided to turn his focus toward coaching and preventing injuries through training athletes. He began coaching at his alma mater, Yutan High School, where he also ran the strength programs and was nominated for Nebraska High School Strength Program of the Year. This is when he got in contact with former teammate Eric Richards for an Internship opportunity at the Xplosive Edge. Nate began as an Intern in the fall of 2016, and received his CSCS in February 2017. Shortly after, Nate joined the Xplosive Edge staff as a sports performance coach.
Nate also helped coach Yutan to its first-ever state football championship in 2017.
Why do I coach?

Grant Teckmeyer, B.S., CSCS
Grant Teckmeyer graduated from Southwest Baptist University (SBU) with a Bachelor’s Degree in Exercise Science. While at Southwest Baptist, Grant was a Division II backup quarterback for the Bearcat football team for five years. Grant also had the privilege of being president of the SBU Fellowship of Christian Athletes group during his junior and senior year of college. Throughout his college career, Grant’s passion for year-round performance training grew, and his desire to serve the Lord and young people led him to the field of strength and conditioning.
In the summer of 2010, Grant trained at Xplosive Edge for the first time as a high school athlete. It was during this time Grant learned what scientific programming and strength and conditioning were all about at Xplosive Edge. Seeing how the principles of ground-based training and progressive overload worked first hand as an athlete improved his performance to a level he never thought possible. Now as a coach, Grant desires to help young athletes reach their maximum potential through positive and relational coaching.
During the summer of 2016, Grant completed an internship with the University of Nebraska football strength and conditioning staff to fulfill his degree from SBU. Grant successfully earned his CSCS through the National Strength and Conditioning Association in May of 2017. Grant was given the privilege of joining the Xplosive Edge staff as an assistant strength and conditioning coach in August of 2017.

Eric Richards, CSCS
In May of 2015 I graduated The Nebraska Wesleyan University with a Bachelor of Science in Health and Fitness Studies and a Business Administration minor. While at Nebraska Wesleyan, I was a three year starter at cornerback for the prairie wolves defense. Off the field during my Junior and Senior year I was the president of the Wesleyan FCA organization (Fellowship of Christian Athletes). During my high school and collegiate career, I had an unmatched passion for maximizing my athletic abilities. Combining that with a desire to help others has lead me to the field of strength and conditioning where I have now worked with a variety of athletes ranging from grade school to collegiate athletes.
During the summer of 2014 I was an intern here at The Xplosive Edge. I choose X-Edge because in high school I played alongside and competed against one of their athletes. Seeing how advanced he was in the weight room with sound technique and superb strength I always wondered what went on at the Xplosive Edge. Throughout my internship I began to understand why the Xplosive Edge helped maximize my peer’s athletic talents. Through hands on coaching, with specialized and science based programming I began to see that X Edge gave athletes the best possibility to succeed.
A little over a year after my internship I received my CSCS through the NSCA. I was also granted the opportunity to join the X-Edge staff as an assistant strength and conditioning coach. Now in my new role I bring a high energy and positive coaching style mixed with the established training protocols at The Xplosive Edge to help all athletes reach their maximum potential.

Gibbie Duval has now been a strength and conditioning coach at Xplosive Edge for 11 years, and has since become owner and director of sports performance. For many years, Gibbie and his brother Zach, now head football strength coach and director of athletic performance at the University of Wyoming, worked side by side to grow the Xplosive Edge into the biggest sports performance training facility in the midwest. Over the years, Gibbie and the Xplosive Edge have maintained a close working relationship with Boyd Epley and Mike Arthur who had so much success with the “Husker Power” program for many years at Nebraska. Gibbie’s father Rick was one of the first football coaches that Tom Osborne hired at Nebraska so the ties run very deep. All of the programs offered at Xplosive Edge mimic many valuable principles that were created out of the “10 Husker Power Principles” established by Boyd many years ago. Over the course of the last 10 years, Gibbie has trained a Stanley Cup champion, Super Bowl champion, Olympic Gold Medalist, and many other professional athletes. Gibbie was selected by Boyd Epley as the Nebraska State Combine Director when Boyd released Epic Athletic Performance and was also selected as the keynote speaker at the annual postural restoration institute convention in Salt Lake City, UT. Also, Gibbie continues to work with many clubs in the area and has trained over a thousand volleyball and soccer athletes in the Omaha area.
Gibbie is a “certified strength and conditioning specialist” of the National Strength and Conditioning Association and participates and speaks in several strength and fitness symposiums across the country. Gibbie is also the co founder of Tri-Planar Performance, a consultation company devised to educate strength and conditioning professionals around the country on the important of Postural Restoration and Integration into strength and conditioning and programming. Gibbie has consulted for many high schools, colleges, and universities around the nation and worked with IMG Sports Academies in 2011. Gibbie is also a “certified personal trainer” and “fitness and nutrition specialist” through the National Academy of Sports Medicine. Gibbie is certified by the United States of America Weightlifting Association and holds a Sports Performance Coach Certification and also holds a certification through the Tudor Bompa Institute as a “Strength and Conditioning Expert.” Gibbie also contributes and writes articles and research for Ken Kontor’s Performance Conditioning Inc. as well as Stack Magazine and also contributes to the Postural Restoration Institute with research and development on the Integration of Postural Restoration into Strength and Conditioning programs. In 2013 Gibbie was named the head strength and conditioning coach for the Omaha Lancers hockey organization of the USHL in addition to being hired at Vatterott College to direct the “personal fitness trainer” program. Gibbie also recently earned his VCAP (volleyball conditioning and performance) certification through USA volleyball.
Gibbie attended the University of Nebraska Omaha where he received his Bachelors Degree in Exercise Science and was a collegiate baseball player. While living in Kansas City, Gibbie was fortunate enough to be able to study under the legendary Romanian Olympic Gold medal coach Istvan Javorek where Gibbie developed into an olympic strength coach. Istvan was the original creator of the “dumbbell complex” and Gibbie was able to work with several Olympic athletes on sports performance enhancement and injury prevention programs.

Diane Banderas, CSCS, USAW
Diane Banderas graduated from the University of Nebraska Omaha (UNO) with her Bachelors Degree in Exercise Science. She earned her CSCS from the National Strength and Conditioning Association in 2015. Diane was a Division I middle blocker on the UNO volleyball team for five years, with fourteen total years of experience on the court both playing and coaching. In 2015 Diane was presented the, Maverick Muscle, award at the annual UNO Athletic Banquet representing her dedication and success within the competitive field of strength and conditioning.
In the summer of 2015, Diane was an intern with the Husker Power strength program under Boyd Epley and Mike Arthur at the University of Nebraska Lincoln assisting with volleyball, baseball, softball, soccer, and gymnastics. Over the spring of 2016, she completed an internship with Cressey Sports Performance in Jupiter, Florida. At Cressey, Diane worked with MLB players during their spring training season in both rehab and strength training, becoming more familiar with baseball specific arm care and training regiments.

The Omaha Sports Complex is the “home” base for the Xplosive Edge with our weight room, as well as our office area. This building is where our Xplosive Edge, Developing Edge, and Adult Edge Camps take place.
This facility has also been used to train the Omaha Football Club. With programs designed specifically for soccer athletes, our program works to create the superior soccer athlete. Trained at our facility inside the Omaha Sports Complex, athletes can train before or after practice.
Emphasis is put on increasing strength, balance, agility, and range of motion, all while developing power and decreasing injuries. Athletes will increase their speed, acceleration and agility. Soccer-specific conditioning is included in our training regimen when the athlete has become strong enough to control their bodies in space.
Athletes are trained depending on age, volume, intensity and phase of year. Each athlete is pre- and post-performance tested to track their own individual performance index score. Athletes are also supplied with a pre- and post-workout drink to help recover and boost the immune system. Supplements are provided by 8 Ball Nutrition and are certified safe for athletes of all ages. Each soccer team receives a full nutritional analyses and bio-mechanical evaluations of each athlete.
The Xplosive Edge satellite facility at The Courts is the Midwest’s premier training facility for volleyball athletes. Equipped with Power Lift and Hammer Strength equipment, the courts satellite facility is nicer than most of the universities in the nation.
The courts training facility is exclusively for the use of the Xplosive Edge in its training of Premier Volleyball. Premier Volleyball is one of the nations best volleyball clubs and is on the rise. Since the inception of Xplosive Edge working with Premier Volleyball, Premier has increased its winning percentage by over 66% all while decreasing the injury rate by over 88%. This last year Premier Volleyball sent 8 teams to the USA volleyball championships!
The Courts X-edge training facility houses everything we need to make a volleyball athlete even better. With focus on ground based movements, the Xplosive Edge trains the volleyball athlete as functional as possible. The Courts Volleyball facility is also equipped with 13 volleyball courts, bathrooms and showers, study areas for athletes, a lounge for the parents, and also serves as the home facility to other local clubs.
All training packages include the “fueling tactics” nutrition program, pre and post testing, a postural restoration sports pre screen, and one SAQ session per month.
Designed specifically for the professional athlete, The Professional Edge will help the athlete maximize their athletic performance to the full potential. We have dedicated this camp to helping the pro athlete achieve even more than they ever have.
By increasing lean muscle mass and decreasing body fat, the athlete will be better suited for the demands of professional sport. Emphasis is put on increasing Strength, Speed, Agility, Range of Motion, balance, and Acceleration as well as developing power through Olympic weightlifting variations. Intense one-on-one instruction will help the pro athlete achieve their goals and take their game to the next level
Pre and Post test evaluations and a comprehensive nutritional program set up by the Xplosive Edge staff will help the pro athlete recover faster from exercise and boost the immune system. Nearby hotel accommodations, supplementation through 8-ball nutrition, and bi-weekly sports massage are offered as well.

Adult Edge Boot Camp
Designed for any adult coming from any walk of life, the Adult Edge is a scientifically researched training program designed to specifically target body fat loss by increasing lean muscle mass. This is not your everyday Adult boot camp.
The Xplosive Edge will incorporate its renowned “Husker Power Principles” to get the adult to perform better and maximize their workouts. Emphasis is put on increasing strength, agility, range of motion, and balance as well as developing power.
Xplosive Edge staff will help each adult regain proper biomechanical position via breathing, strengthening, and proper activation of certain muscle groups. Nutritional analysis and Fueling tactics will be covered with each adult as well as pre and post performance and body fat testing.
Prep Edge Camp is designed for athletes ages 13-18, where High School age athletes will take their performance to a new level. Devised from the principles developed out of the University of Nebraska, in the days of Husker Power, the Prep Edge Camp is designed to help youth athletes increase performance and decrease injuries.
Designed for athletes ages 8 to 12, the Developing Edge introduces and teaches younger athletes proper running, jumping and lifting technique, as well as eye-hand coordination.
This is accomplished through a variety of speed and agility drills on the field and strength and explosive lifts in the weight room.
With all emphasis on form and technique, the Xplosive Edge staff will help the developing athlete acquire proper neuromuscular recruitment patterns which lead to an overall decrease in injury and improvement in performance.
